I swear I recognize your breath Memories like fingerprints are slowly raising me, you wouldnt recall, for I’m not my former It’s hard when you’re stuck upon the shelf I changed by not changing at all, small town predicts my fate Perhaps that’s what no one wants to see I just want to scream…hello…
Thinking of my NYSE Big Board fellows this morning on the anniversary of 9/11/01. I rose from the stairs of the # 2 train early that morning to a crisp, clear, sunny day much like we have today. I bought my coffee and walked to the steps of
the Exchange and remember the utter “stillness” of that morning. A few inserts from the Financial Times blew over my shoes as I stood outside just like every other morning preparing myself for the breakfast orders that were sure to start adding up, faster that Facebook buys on an IPO day.
A few hours later an unspeakable HORROR in our country’s history occurred. Innocence was consumed by Evil. Families would forever be ruptured with death having divided them. Flames and gas and heights would forever take the lives of hard working men, women, and children would across this city and nation all for the sake of Evil. Our brave fire fighters and policemen, soldiers going into the inferno, for the sake of Honor and Courage and Country. Many would not come back Alive!!
I’m one of the fortunate ones. I got to see the smiles of my family again. I was able to see my co workers again and share some laughs and tribulations. Most of all I’m just grateful to be alive and remember as i’m sure we all do as the years roll by that…….WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
